Two Elves in the green forest.
Any Roman who encountered them would have called them that; but they preferred to be called another way. At one time, they would have called two Celts of the Menapii lineage. At that time, their people dominated those woods and all the lands around them, from the ocean sea to the forests to the east, beyond the great rivers. Unfortunately their people had always been divided, and when the Romans came, their world was gone forever. By now, reduced to a few isolated groups, their people still lived in the forests according to the ancient law, but they dominated nothing but their own consciences, and so now they were simply two females of the People of the Woods, the little people of nature worshipers. and connoisseurs of its hidden secrets, survived on the fringes of the Roman world but refractory to life in the cities and to the civilization that exploits nature instead of living with it.
